Kipp Mountain

Getting there: Take exit 25 on the Northway toward Chestertown/Hague. Make a left onto NY-8 S. You’ll make a right onto Landon Hill Road, after about 1.5 miles, and then a left onto Ben Culver Road after a mile. In about 500 feet, you’ll see the pull off for the trailhead on your right. Parking is limited, and I recall cell service being sparse, as well.

For reference, this hike is about 30 minutes from Lake George and there is a Stewart’s once you take exit 25 not too far from the trailhead (post-hike milkshake, anyone?)

Important note: This trail is typically closed during hunting season (Oct.-Dec., exact dates vary) so check before you head out if it’s during that time of year.

The hike: This is an easier 1.9-mile (3.05km) out-and-back trail that’s part of the Chester Challenge. Elevation gain is ~400 or so feet (121.9 m.) The trail borders private property so be sure to stay on the marked trail until you reach the overlook.
